Who We Are

John Kaman, PMP, is a principal of Whitewater Coaching and Consulting and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota.  John possesses unique skills, combining a Master’s Degree in Psychology / Human Development with an Engineering Degree. He has been teaching and coaching project managers nationwide for the past ten years. His 2 Day Class, Project Manager as Coach™ was featured at PMI’s Seminars World in 2006 and at PMI’s Global Congress in 2004, '05 and '07 with enthusiastic response from project managers around the world. One manager from Oslo, Norway said of Project Manager as Coach™ “This was worth traveling half-way around the world!”

John has 22 years of experience in Research and Development Management with 3M Company. He has led project teams in the development of printers, copiers, Data Cartridges® and videotape products. John holds two patents and, as a result of his leadership, John’s teams have been awarded sixteen U.S. patents.

John is an active member of PMI-Minnesota Chapter and the International Coaching Federation. He has been a featured speaker at both organizations. Numerous companies have benefited from John’s teaching and coaching including, Motorola, Ford Motor, 3M, Cisco Systems, United Health Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, St. Jude Medical and Wells Fargo Bank.
